Dear Grace Hopper STEM Academy and Men of Grace Families and Friends:
Welcome to Grace Hopper STEM Academy (GHSA) and Men of Grace (MOG). Our commitment to our families is to provide a safe and intellectually challenging environment that will empower students to become innovative thinkers, creative problem solvers and inspired learners prepared to thrive in the twenty-first century.
Our goal, as we prepare all GHSA and MOG students for the Race to STEM is to provide our students with a strong academic foundation in sciences, while at the same time broadening our students’ exposure to careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math. Over the past school year, students have had the opportunity to visit Google, Microsoft and the Viterbi School of Engineering at USC. In addition, every student has learned the fundamentals of computer programming using Scratch, and every eighth grade student has been given a hands-on introduction to engineering through Project Lead the Way.
At GHSA and MOG, we make it our business to give students the tools they will need in order to be successful in college or the career of their choosing. We plan to expand our offerings to include dance, music production and culinary arts to tap into the interests of our diverse student body. We are committed to building relationships with students, parents, and the community to provide students with the capacity to become lifelong learners, effective members of society, as well as agents for a positive change.
We are looking forward to an amazing 2016-2017 school year!
Karen Anderson, Principal of GHSA Michelle Drayton, Principal, MOG
